My Bikini

I’m so excited!!... Yesterday I got fitted for my competition bikini... it was so much fun looking at all the colours and fabrics, not to mention the bling and the different cuts and styles... I had no idea how much money and effort can go into such a small bit of material... First you choose a cut/style, then a colour/fabric, then how much bling you want on it, how many straps, how thick the straps... WOW!!! I spent a good hour having a play and trying on samples... As it is my first comp I went for a pretty basic bikini that is black sparkling silver velvet with slight bling sewed around the edges... It will take a few weeks to be made and I can’t wait to share some pics once it’s done.
The Lovely Helen Navarre will be making my Bikini, she has over 25 years experience in the industry and definitely knows her stuff. She made me feel so comfortable and helped me over come any fears I had with wearing a bikini arghhhh.... still such a shock this is all happening yet so exciting!..

POSING CLASS

I had my first Posing class last night with the team at MBS... WOW what an experience!  Man am I sore today! It was my first time learning all the poses and learning how to flex every god dam muscle I didn’t even know I had! It really takes it out of you when holding a flex and keeping your body tight... I was shaking and I nearly ran out of breath between turns... My coach wants us flexing nonstop! At home, in the shower, on the toilet, at work... between sets FLEX FLEX FLEX!! I had no idea how important it was until I did some research. All this time I use to see people at the gym (mainly big guys) flexing in the mirror, I thought it was a vanity thing... But apparently it does wonders for your muscles! Now I’m the loser flexing in the mirror at gym! Ha-ha LOVE IT!
Flexing
Flexing helps bring blood to your muscles, really helping build them up. The more blood in your muscles, the more they have that pump to them. Have you ever worked out, and your muscles were twice their normal size? Another way to help blood into your muscles is breathing. Inhale on the way down, exhale when applying the force. Flexing also helps isolate the muscle you are training, to really work it. After I do a set of curls, and I flex for about 30 seconds, my arms hurt more than they did during my last rep! That is why flexing really helps your muscles.
Flexing also helps you control your muscles, which is great in a competition. Being able to flex what you want and when you want is a great thing to have.
Tips on flexing:
  • Flex after the set: After you finish a set, flex for about 30 seconds.
  • Don't wait too long to start the next set, because you don't want to lose your energy.
  • Flex as hard as you can: You can't work your muscles with half-hearted effort.
  • Try to flex your entire body at once: This helps you control all your muscles at one time.

Steak

So lately I’ve been eating a lot of steak on my new diet but it can get a bit confusing with all the different cuts... I tend to stick with eye fillet steaks as they are very lean and tender. I season with a bit of lemon, garlic, oregano, rosemary and olive oil... YUMMM

My Posing Shoes.. REOOWWWWWWWWW haha

The Paleo Diet

The Paleo diet has become the new craze lately
Shortened from the name Paleolithic Diet is one that takes us back to the ancient years and essentially tries to create a diet that the cavemen would have eaten.
Basically if it was available thousands of years ago, it’s going to have a place in your meal plan. This means that your daily diet will consist of meat, fish plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as nuts, seeds and oils are typically allowed in moderations. The foods to avoid include dairy products, cereal grains, legumes, starchy vegetables, fatty meats, and foods that are very high in salt such as processed meats and salted nuts.

Preparation is the key folks!!! Every Sunday I chop up my vegies, bag up my portions of meat and make sure I have everything I need for the week so that making my meals for the next day isn't too time consuming the night before :)

Sugar is more addictive then cocaine!!!

So I got my "comp prep diet"... and WOW!!! I am in for a challenge!.. I have to eliminate all sugar and diary....  my two favoutie things :(
I was having a good chat with my coach about Sugar and he has scared the crap out of me!.. This got me doing some research on sugars and boy oh boy I am shocked!!!

We’ve known for years that sugar isn’t good for us. It promotes tooth decay, provides quick highs and lows and offers nothing but empty calories that pack on the kilos. However, it appears that it is even worse then we previously thought. Researchers recently determined that refined sugar is actually more addictive the cocaine. Sugar taken every day produces a continuously over acid condition in your body. More and more minerals are required from deep in the body in the attempt to rectify the imbalance. In order to protect the blood, so much calcium is taken from the bones and teeth that they start to weaken. Excess sugar eventually affects every organ in the body. Initially, it is stored in the liver in the form of glucose (glycogen). Since the liver’s capacity is limited, a daily intake of refined sugar (above the required amount of natural sugar) soon makes the liver expand like a balloon. When the liver is filled to its maximum capacity, the excess glycogen is returned to the blood in the form of fatty acids. These are taken to every part of the body and stored in the most inactive areas – the belly, the buttocks, the breasts and the thighs.
Watch these two stories from the American and Australian 60 minute shows!  I’m sure you will be as shocked as I am to learn just how bad sugar really is.

Learn the lingo on labels. Although it’s no surprise that baked goods, dairy products like flavored milk and yogurt, salad dressings, sauces, and condiments have added sugar, some sources like whole wheat bread, peanut butter, and crackers may seem less obvious. Look for the following terms on ingredients lists—they all spell sugar: high fructose corn syrup, white sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, corn syrup solids, raw sugar, malt syrup, maple syrup, pancake syrup, fructose sweetener, liquid fructose, honey, molasses, anhydrous dextrose and crystal dextrose.
